Happy 2026! We're still working for a more sustainable and green Chicago since 1975.
The Resource Center began as a recycling operation over 50 years ago.
When you choose Resource Center, you are choosing to join our greater mission of reducing unnecessary waste for our environment to benefit our planet and humanity on a local level.
We service commercial business and residential homes as well as multi-unit residences with weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly service. We provide the designated containers for three or more sorted categories. As Chicago's first non-profit recycler, Resource Center collects recyclable materials through curbside/alley/yard collections or drop-off centers. Our service area is currently the City of Chicago. For the far south, SW, west, and NW sides, we will need special arrangements.
We pledge to recycle 100% of the materials we pick up (less contaminants). We follow the standard household recycling guidelines: https://www.recyclebycity.com/chicago/guide ~ contaminants are not accepted and returned. We are the only recycler working in the Chicago area who can make this pledge.
Better Government Association released an important investigative report in October 2018 on how recycling efforts in Chicago are failing to keep recyclable materials out of landfills. Click here to read their important findings.
